Writing is an art form in that anyone can practise, and given time we believe that most people have the potential to write professionally. The written word is all around us, everyday we are surrounded not just by the latest best sellers, but also hundreds of newspapers, and the internet. Even television requires thousands of busy writers seven days a week, three hundred and sixty five days a year. Given these facts, everyone who wants to, can either write for fun and let other people enjoy their work for free, or write for a living and subsidise their quality of life by doing they enjoy most of all.

This brings us back to the point of Secret Attic. This website has been designed and written as a tool for the development of anyone who wants a helping hand, and a medium in which to express their art. While we will produce the majority of articles and discussions, you are welcome to contribute in the form of book reviews, essays and your opinions.

The crux of the website is the monthly competitions. Every month you are invited to send us your short stories, our panel of experienced judges will review each of these and the winner will have their work published. While the website is in its early stages these competitions will be free to enter and prizes will be awarded where we have raised sufficient funds from donations. As the website grows we will increase the prizes as an incentive for you to keep sending your work in.

Please come back often to read the work that people have sent in, the latest news and parhaps consider contributing yourself.

Happy writing and keep practising.
