Welcome to the Secret Attic Novel Writing challenge!
Dates:
We begin writing: January 1st 2009
First draft closing date: June 30th 2009
Second draft closing date: July 1st - September 30th 2009
Final editing period: October 1st 2009 - December 31st 2009
Submitting
By January 1st, 2010 you will have a bright and shiny (perfect!) manuscript to submit to literary agents or publishing houses.
Post all details of your submissions... record the progress and never mind the rejection, in your own attic (more details below) and submit, submit and submit again.
How to enter the challenge...
There is no entry fee to enter the challenge.
Firstly, you need to register your novel. To do this, click HERE
Please provide a title for your novel even if this may change at the end.
Secondly, you need to become a member of Secret Attic. To do this, click HERE
Your own "Attic" will then be set up within the SA forums, this is where you post the progress of how you are getting on with your novel. Your attic is also a place to discuss your novel; post your word counts to date; ask opinions and advice; offer and find support, help and encouragement; share a sample of your novel for feedback and constructive criticism.
There is no word limit for your novel.
Your novel can be of any genre.
Your novel can be fiction or non-fiction.
You can enter a first draft of any novel you may have gathering dust on your shelves.
We will be reminding you of the period of writing time as they approach.
We believe that those who enter the challenge are serious about writing, completing and selling their novel. Therefore, we will not be asking to "see" the novel, we trust that you will be writing and striving toward publication.
